On my boat (376) and I assume all Hunters, the wood they use on the inside of the boat seems to be a plywood with a covering layer on it. First question: what is that layer called? Second question: Anybody know the name of the meterial it is?

I called Hunter and of course nobody there in parts. I stopped by the local Hunter dealer and they are busy with a move. I am thinking of driving 1.5 hours to a wood store to see if they have it but would like to see if anybody knows the name of it so I can call first.

If you're speaking of the plywood with a polymer veneer, then it's been manufacturered specifically for Hunter Marine (or any large user of custom plywood products). They use a marine grade glue so it won't delamiinate when wet. I doubt you'll find it in lumber yard either. Check a search of Google for specialty plywoods and you may find someone that sells it (or similar).

Well, I'm so impatient :) I drove acrosss town to Houston Hardwood and they said it was teak veneer, so I got some, tied it to the roof and drove 30 mph for 2 hours :)

The grain looks the same but te color isn't. What do you think they coated it with? I don't think it's teak oil because I've used that some other place and the color was close but not as shiny.

Franklin: The older Hunters used Daly's Seafin finish. The newer boats have a factory applied finish (like a poly finish). You can get a pint of Daly's from some different sources. Just do a goggle search, you may find someone locally that carries it.
