George, there's a way to get into the shower seat
That's where the tank is on a whole BUNCH of Hunters, and the owners have managed to replace 'em without taking a chain saw to the boat. (Eddie, I know you read my posts...tell 'em to use screws, not sealant...you'll make future owners' lives so much easier!)Hunters buit before about '91 or '92 all had aluminum tanks, and urine is HIGHLY corrosive...it's really essential that you find a way to get in there and see what kind of condition your tank is in. Even if it's still ok (which is unlikely after even 5 years of use, so I'm REALLY concerned that it may be leaking), there's the matter of hoses. Nothing stinks in cold weather...but if those hoses are still original after 20 years, they're have to be permeated by now, which means your boat is NOT gonna smell very good in June. If they don't stink, it has to mean that a previous owner has replaced 'em fairly recently...and that also means he was able to get to the tank. And unless the same previous owner did something REALLY stupid--like seal it all up again with something like 5200--that you should be able to get to everything too, if you work at it a bit.I"d also like to suggest that you spend a few minutes in the Head Mistress forum Reference Library (on the home page)...there are at dozen articles in it you should find very informative, if not actually useful in tackling this project.Boat builders--and especially well-meaning previous owners--don't make it easy sometimes, but the smartest thing any boat owner can do is find EVERYthing on his boat and know its condition. It saves a lot of nasty surprises when you least need a nasty surprise.
