I stepped on my plex hatch and cracked the darn thing almost in two. I know we have talked about replacing these before on here, but could not find in the archives. My boat is a 1986 H23 Thanks for any help/suggestions.. Scott

Not a "standard" part...

...So you probably won't be able to get it from a major manufacturer. Your best bet is to call a local plastics dealer, and have a piece cut to match the dimensions of your old one. Then, drill the holes in your new hatch using the old one as a template... Also, I'd recommend going to a "smoked" or tinted PlexiGlas... Will help keep temperatures down in the cabin, and provide a little more privacy from the outside. There should be a plastics dealer in your general area; they would be listed in the yellow pages. Take your measurements, and give 'em a call for a quote. Good luck! --Jon Bastien H23 '2 Sheets to the Wind' H25 'Adagio'

plexiglass

While replacing the top plexiglass go ahead and replace the vertical hatch with smoked plexiglass. You can use your old hatch as a template. I did this to our H23. Now it all matches, don’t have to worry about the wood rotting, and looks pretty sharp. I would suggest having all your angle cuts and holes drilled by a professional, as it requires special tools to cut this plexiglass. I learned the hard way. If you use a standard drill bit, you will crack the plexiglass. It requires a special drill bit. Good luck.
