Hi Guys, I have a 1991 Hunter 30T. I'm looking for a vendor that carries the plex-glass cover the the Yanmar instrument panel in the cockpit. I called Hunter Marine and they do not carry them anymore for the older hunters. SSI made the plex-glass cover years ago, but not anymore. I also talked to Marine Diesel Direct but they don't carry this cover (not a yanmar part). Anyway, does anyone know a vendor that makes this cover? Thanks Jim jim.wharton@fnc.fujitsu.com

Instrument Panel Cover

Jim I needed to replace mine on an 89 H30 last year. I took the original to a glass shop and they were able to cut a new one and drill the holes. Don't recall the cost it was not great. I'm thinking $10. When I got it home, I clamped it over a broomstick and applied some heat to get the bend. It turned out to be an easy fix. Bob

replacement for instrument panel cover

I had the same experience that did in replacing the plexiglass cover for the instrument panel on my 33.5. Hunter gav me the name of a place in Maryland (can't remember the name) who did not have any covers left for my model and claimed that they no longer had the die to make the panel. I measured the old panel and had a piece of plexiglass cut at a local hardware store. I used a circle cutte on a friend's drill press to cover the access hole to the ignition switch and bent the panel using a 1" dowel and a heat gun used to strip paint. Be careful about how much heat you apply; use just enough to permit agentle bend to be placed in the plexiglass. Mine looks great!

Got a picture?

I've been thinking, for years, about making my own cover. Don't really know where to start.

Use Lexan

The plexiglass on my 1988 , 30 hunter , was shot when I bought it two years ago . Luckily I have access to 1/8 inch Lexan . Using the old cover for a template , I cut it and matched the holes . I used a proffessional hand brake ( bender ) , to get the slight bend called for . Lexan shears and bends like metal , cuts easily with a band saw . You can also bend it by "C" clamping two pieces of flatbar on your bend line . This will only work well on a small piece like the one your making . Take your time . A holesaw cut the hole , a lot easier if you have a drill press . The cockpit looks much better . Good luck . Ron
