Cherub. 30

Any Hunter 30 build between "74" & "83". Check the serial # on the transom it should end in HUN indicating Hunter.

well actually none were Cherubini's

Well you are correct, none of them are actually Cherubini's they are all Hunters. Hunter built the "Cherubini Designed" boats. John Cherubini was the designer at the time. This is sort of like Henderson is the current designer. The difference was that Hunter was a start up company in those days. Henderson inherited some of the boats that are in production today, but they will soon be Henderson Hunter, like they were Cherubini Hunters. There was a slope cabin H'25 that was built in the early years (I think that was a Siedlman (sp?)and there was also a one off "Raider" (I think that this was the name), sort of a do-it-yourself kit 33'. I have not heard that there were any other designers between 1973 and 1982. After this period they changed to the second generation hulls with B & R Rigs. I think that this generation started in 1983.

To summerize...

All Hunters produced prior to 1984 were John Cherubini designs? Hence the Cherubini monicker? Do I have it right? Thanks for the imput from all.

1982

The boat that you are looking at was a Cherubini designed vessel. There was a transition during the 1982-83 production years. Some of the Cherubini designed boats were mfg later into the 80's from the information that we have gathered here.

Raider in no way a kit!

The CHERUBINI Raider 33 was ALL cherubini all the time. It came out of the Cherubini works complete and was certainly not a kit. It had no relation to Hunter other than obvious "piggy backin" of orders for quantity pricing on common materials like ports, toe rails, winches, hinges and so-on. It was built by CHERUBINI and deserves the right to be called a "Cherubini" . Quite fast! You might want to take a look at the series of pictures of "Andromeda" I posted in the Photo Forum a short while back. You can see the family resemblence.

Easiest way to ID Cherubini

Cerphr - the easiest way to figure out if you're looking at a Cherubini designed Hunter 30 is to go to the "boat information" section of this website, and click on the 30 ft model for the year you're interested in. There will be photos and line drawings of the boat. All Hunter 30s from 1974 through 1981 were designed by Cherubini, and are characterised by a raised cabin with a rapid rise ahead of the mast, 4 rectangular ports on each side, and a narrow transom typical of older style boats. I have a 1981 H 27, Cherbuni design, which I think is absolutely beautiful. Best of luck in your boat search! Pete

Cherubinis

Maybe the Cherbini 30 Hunters ended in 1983, but my 27 is an 84, the last year of that design in the Hunter group.

The "year" thing.

Cherubinis were built into the year 1985. I believe you can find a 1985 H37C in the Owner's Directory. The overlapping boats were the H31 and H34 in 1983 and the H40 in 1984, all Hunter committee designs I think. The H27 and H36 were last built in 1984 I think.
