On our 1979 Hunter 30, when I open the emergency tiller locator, I can hear and see a little bit of play in the shaft as it rotates. I have not grounded the boat in the two years that we have owned it. The shaft is rubbing the wood that is sort of a guide under the seat. Is this new noise the rudder possibly, or has that wood just swelled to now it rubs the shaft due to the small play? Any help appreciated.
