The ports on my Hunter 27 have some broken off plastic edges. Has anyone repaired with a specific type of glue (super glue, ???)? It seems that a good chunk of the plastic breaks off at the screw down tangs. I have the pieces, just not sure what glue would work, if any. Hate to have to purchase a new port. Thanks.

my repair

As the ports get older it seems more and more of the tie down tabs break off. Even on newer plastic ports it happens. My solution is to buy from the hardware store 1" corner brackets and cut off one leg to about 3/8" and drill a hole in it to run a thin bolt through. The thin bolt is about 1 and a half to two inches. The exiting port screws next to the broken tabs are used to mount the brackets. These screws are solid and continue holding the ports together along with the new brackets. The port tang is then attached with the thin bolt and everything works as it did before. For me this is a much better solution than replacing the whole port.

Plastic Surgery

I came across a great product for your application. It is called Plastic Surgery and comes in a small tube like Crazy Glue and is usually found in the same section in the hardware store. It says it will bond any kind of plastic and thus far has worked well for me.

just replace the lens

Just replace the lens. They sell them here on the website. If you don't find them give Dave a call. You can try superglue, but my success has been spotty at best trying to repair them.
