Pictures of my problem

I have been back to take some pictures now of my Vega deck. There seems to
be two completely different problems. The blue marks are probably gelcoat
wear. The other is dark or black and looks like dirt, but it isn't. It's only down in
the grooves of the decks anti slip pattern.
Take a look at: http://homepage.mac.com/sondell/PhotoAlbum1.html

Many thanks to all You helpful Vega people!

Worn gelcoat. Sand and re-finish if it bothers you (It did bother me so I refinished the boat with awlgrip - quite a job) but it's just cosmetic.

My Vega was awlgripped four years ago. Within six months
discoloration started appearing from under the new coating. The
discoloration blossomed and within three years, the awlgrip was
crazing and lifting off. I believe that the original gelcoat had
crazed and had absorbed moisture which caused the discoloration and
destruction of the finish. I have just had the gelcoat ground down
and built up and am refinishing with awlgrip again. The prep was
about 60 hours. The awlgrip will be rolled and tipped. Good Luck.

Hello: The black marks may be lichen. I had similar black spots in the
non-skid that would get larger in the rain (Pacific NW). I scrubbed them
with bleach to kill the organism, but it's taken almost two years for the
black to disappear since it's down in the grooves. Just cosmetic at this
point. Bill Bach V1071 Calimera
