Just got a notice from Boatpic.com that they took a picture of our boat while we were sailing near Newport. Anyone ever get a picture from them?RREggeS/V AllieKat
Boatpix covered the Harvest Moon Regatta (Texas) in 1999. I thought their pictures were very good and priced accordingly. At the time their policy was that you were allowed to view the pictures (sent to you by mail) before you were asked to pay for them. You have the option to return the pictures and not pay for them.
We were having a great sail on a Tuesday afternoon and ended up going around Beavertail and into Newport. We saw a dark blue helicopter flying low and fast across the water. We guessed they were taking pictures and joked we'd end up on the cover of Cruising World. Three months later we get a letter saying they took our picture and will send us the pictures to look at free of charge. Pay for what we like and return the rest.It was a beautiful day and they seem to do professional work. How did they find us? The name of the boat and our hailing port I guess.RREggeS/V Allie Kat
...taken in action under full sail on the Magothy River in MD. It's one of the best shots I have of the boat because it's so hard to get one under sail. They posted thumbnails on their web site for you to pick out and order from. Great deal. I suggest you check yours out further.
Was off Newport cruising home and was buzzed by a helicopter. Fantastic shots of the boat. They sent me the pixs for review and pricing info. I recieved a large print of very good quality (large format and cibachrome like). I contacted them directly from the url on the helicopter but it's easy to search the USCG documents to find out who you are if your documented. Most states can supply you with owner info via reg. number. You'd have to pay a lot more if you hired the copter exclusively.
