I have a Hunter 28.5 that I sail solo on Lake Michigan. Does anyone know what the Americap and/or the PHRF rating is with up to a 155 genoa? Thanks in advance.

PHRF for Hunter 28

Mike -- I have a 1989 Hunter 28 sailed in the Pacific Northwest. It got a PHRF rating of ~215 a few years ago. That was based on a 135 genoa, use of pole, and no spinnaker. Your rating will be based on the boat specs and the sail inventory you intend to use. I would guess it will be somewhere between 190 and 220. Hope this helps.

Hunter 28.5 Tolchester, MD
PHRF Chesapeake Bay

Our deep draft 1986 Hunter 28.5 rates 174 non spinnaker on Chesapeake Bay with a 155% Genoa, no roller furler and a folding prop. Shoal draft may add 6 seconds per mile; roller furling may add 6 seconds, and some areas may give you a credit for a fixed prop. Don't expect that 190 and upwards rating; that's probably for the newer 28 which has a different rig and keel. There's a web site for the 28.5's with several racers, including some in the Great Lakes area: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/huntertwentyeightfive/
