Check the PHRF Handicappers in your area
either through your yacht club or racing fleet. Each PHRF area feels they know their area, winds etc. and can affix the perfect rating for a given boat. The important thing is to check the spread between your boat and another specific boat. It's the time difference between your boat and another boat that you have to beat. Your boat may have a spread of as much as 12 or 15 seconds over a variety of areas.
