Greetings, I'm seeking a fair rating on the Chesapeake of a Hunter 25.5 equipped with a Yanmar 1GM inboard diesel. Most of these boats were outboard designed. I can't find any data on the adjusted overall weight of the boat with the inboard (std is 4,500 lbs) and have only sketchy data for PHRF ratings around the country but haven't found a single rating for a deep keel (4' 6") inboard 25.5. I'm guessing that the weight is increased by close to or maybe over 200 lbs with the 167 lb motor, plus prop/shaft/engine compartment/strut/exhaust, etc. Add to that the drag of having the gear in the water. Most places the outboard boat seems to be either 207 or 210. I look forward to hearing from other racing Hunter owners.

Stuart, I'm not aware of any differences in the hull and rig for the ob or ib versions of the 25.5. Mine is the outboard version. Our club doesn't race PHRF but uses its own system. I do have several sources for PHRF in my bookmarks that you can sift through but I haven't noticed any differences in them except occasionally the shoal draft has a higher number. Read your post. I've got an '85 25.5 with the same 1GM. It's a long story, but the prop on mine is not the original. Hunter no longer has the specs, and I've been nosing around for the correct prop size so I can put the right one on. If yours is the original, can you email the size?
