I am installing a PHC-LBA conversion kit that I purchased from SBO.com.

I have a question about the installation of the old (Jabsco ) bowl on the new PHC base.

The schematic diagram supplied shows the bolt (part F081) coming up thru the new base, passing thru the Bowl Gasket (Part 1234), and has a "nylon shoulder washer" (part RNI) that seems to be shown on the drawing as being on top of the Bowl Gasket. But the diagram does not show the bowl....... WHERE EXACTLY DOES THE RNI nylon shoulder washer GO IN RELATION TO THE BOWL ???

Is this "nylon shoulder washer" supposed to be on top of the Bowl Gasket - but BELOW the bowl ? (as in - sandwiched between the bowl and the gasket ?)

Or is is supposed to be between the top of the bowl and the Nut (part 1226B) ??

I see 2 options for the stacking of the parts: (top down order)

OPTION 1:

Nut (1226B)
Nylon shoulder washer (RNI)
Bowl (old Jabsco Bowl)
Bowl Gasket (1234)
Base (1301 PW)
Bowl Bolt (F081)

OPTION 2:

Nut (1226B)
Bowl (old Jabsco Bowl)
Nylon shoulder washer (RNI)
Bowl Gasket (1234)
Base (1301 PW)
Bowl Bolt (F081)

Can anyone clarify this for me ???? I am stumped on this one and the supplied schematics totally ignore the bowl in all diagrams....

Thanks,

Paul

1. First you screw the studs into the inserts in the base, hand-tight. 2. Add the bowl gasket, by pushing it down over the studs. 3. Set the bowl in position. 4. Place the RNI's down over the protruding studs, small side down. 5. Add the nuts on top of the RNI's. 6. Tighten the nuts evenly, all around until you see the bowl gasket just "begin to squeeze" out the sides between the bowl and the base. 7. Add the 4 vinyl caps over the nuts.

You're done.

Re: Question on your boat please

I was mistaken when I earlier gave the instructions on how to attach the Jabsco bowl to the PHC LBA (I was thinking of the SeaEra conversion kit, rather than the PHC). On the PHC conversion, you push the (4) bolts up from the botttom of the base, then push the gasket down on top of the (4) bolts sticking up. Next, you put the bowl in place. Then you add the (4) RNI's, small side down onto the bolts that are sticking up, on top of the bowl's bottom flange. And finally, you add the (4) nuts. Using (2) 7/16" wrenches, you tighten the four nuts evenly, until you see the flat bowl gasket just begin to squeeze out a tiny bit. After that, you add the (4) VCAPS on to of the nuts, and you're done.

Sorry if I misled anyone, my bad!

The PHII and the PHC are very similar to each other, the PHC is a little cheaper, and is the preferred one to use on a sailboat. The basic differences between the two are that the PHII has a mounting pad and holes already provided, to convert it to electric operation at a later date. It also has a two-piece cover that covers the base. The PHC cannot be converted to electric later on, and does not have the cover for the toielt base. Aside from that, they're pretty much the same. They both use the (same) larger capacity double action piston pump.
