Not familiar with either, but took a quick glance - the phaser 6kw uses the Kubota Lugger engine at 1800 rpm. Kubota Lugger is what I have in my Northern Lights generator.
Slower engine speeds mean lower noise and vibration levels. I’d rate that a big plus.

I’ve got a 3.5kw next gen….. installed last season and so far very happy. Wanted a genset with no electronics so went this route. Kubota engine with a sound box.

Replaced my Panda with a 5.5 kw Next Gen. Very happy with the performance and simplicity. Noise level not much greater with sound box

I have a NextGen 5.5kw for 7yrs now (only run 200hrs) and only one non-routine issue. The Kubota ran hot and the capacitor went bad. Ran hot because when my mechanic last changed the raw water pump impeller, he noted the missing vanes on the impeller but did not flush them out of the discharge line, causing the over-heating and blowing the capacitor. I called NextGen, ordered a capacitor, installed it and fired my mechanic! I guess if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself ;-)

I installed three next gen's with sound enclosure. About the most simple sound enclosure generators we've seen. I installed a next gen on my brothers boat 13 years ago and he love's it. He had spent a ton trying to keep the old fisher-Panda going and finally threw in the towel.....I do wish there was a small 1800RPM unit but despite that, these are a very quiet, very simple designs powered by kubota engines..

Thanks for the feedback it has been helpful. It seems all the companies are using Kubotas now, even Fischer-Panda. The Phasor 6.5KW does run at 1800 rpm. We'll be making the decision in a couple of days.

The generator will be installed in a schooner I'm helping to refit for use as a sail training vessel.

I have Phasor with Kubota D1105 as a propulsion, very happy with it. The only thing I did not like, was location of raw water pump behind injector pump. that was impossible to serve, I fit another pump in front of cam shaft as Beta does.
