Almost got one
Have a friend whose family had one when they were newer. He said they were quite fast and did well around here (Long Island Sound). We looked at one at one point, but weren't quite ready to buy and someone else snapped it up. Reasonable accomodations, and a nice cockpit. The one we saw had a tiller, which is good because it lifts clear at party time and keeps people out of the cockpit when you're racing. Watch for "banana" boats, which may have had the backstay really cranked for racing and done a number on the hull with lots of cracks & crazing as symptoms because of the mast being pushed through the bottom of the boat. Boats this vintage will have cracks & crazing anyway, but be alert for "more than usual " amounts of them. Be on the alert for wet & delaminated spots (I think they're cored) in boats this old as well. The owner told us that his PHRF rating was like a license to steal. Have fun if you can find one. I'd almost call it a poor man's Frers 33.
