The previous owner used "permateak", a water based stain he found in ft meyers, fla, on all exterior trim. i was a bit skeptical but decided not to change horses and used what he had left behind. I was very pleased with the results but have been unable to locate the product. Does anyone know if it is still available? thanks

Can't find 'em

I thought I'd seen it at West Marine but a quick search of their site didn't bring anything up. Boat US

I have used it, too.

I have not found a new source for it. I have a little left to do my boat with. It is pretty good stuff - lasts about a year, but is so easy to put on. I have heard that Starbrite makes a teak sealer that is very similar. I haven't tried it yet.

Why stay with Permateak?

I used Permateak for a few years before Cetol came along. There's no comparison. Make the change - you won't be sorry!
