Perkins 4.236 Exhaust Issue.

Good evening,

I am pretty new to marine diesels, and I've just bought a boat on the hard. I am working on getting a Perkins 4.236 up and running.

Someone removed the Exhaust Outlet Elbow while she was sitting idle. I need a second opinion on this part before I purchased a new one.

Below are a few pictures and the link to the part I am going to order to replace it. Am I getting the right part? And is there a better option?

An internet search did not show a free parts manual pdf to download so you might consider purchasing one from the link below. However, an internet search found the attached service manual, which might be useful.

Hello and Welcome, Rusty..
I am not familiar with that engine, but it looks like the exhaust outlet is looking down instead of aft as most engines.. I think the part posted above is for an outlet that looks aft.. Forum member @Maine Sail can contribute to this one, I believe he's dealt with this model Perkins.. It may be that this part can work with its inlet facing up; more research may be in order..

You might check the dimensions and compare it to the part you found and the one Jeremy stocks or contact Jeremy with your dimensions.

Cool! That one looks to be made with top entry and if the bolt pattern is correct, it would work with the “down looking” exit from the exhaust manifold.
