Pendant Too Long

I once moored my boat in a relatively sparse inlet so I could have a longer pendant. Now my pendant can’t be more than half my boat length in my current harbor. With inflation as it is these days, money is tight so wondering if anyone knows how to properly shorten a pendant?

I prefer not to have an eye at the boat-end of the mooring pennant. Its easier to slip the mooring when the pennant is under load (e.g. windy day) and the line can be adjusted to deal with chafe. I guess an added bonus would be the possibility of shortening it easily. Just make sure to throw a locking hitch on your cleat or sampson post.
