They sell Marine chemicals like "Toilet Typhoon" marine toilet cleaner, disinfectant, etc and "Stink Out" foul odor remover and little "Odor Counteractant" (like air fresheners). The Company is "Cool Breeze Chemate Corp. Marine Division" - 4001 Kennett Pike, Suite 134-#302 Greenville De. 19807 I saw them at the AC SailExpo in January and have always been meaning to ask you if you've heard of them. I bought some of their stuff just for the heck of it, some smells ok so I thought "what the heck" I asked if the "Toilet Typhoon" marine toilet cleaner was compatable with an Aerobic (sp?) holding tank system (I use odorloss or the stuff you developed in my holding tank). They said yes it is, the back of the packaging says "Concentrate ready to use, super effective odor counterantant that chemically nuetralizes and destroys holding tank waste. Its unique bio-formulation has been specifically cultured to speed the natural biodegradation of organic waste. It neutralizes waste and odors from oxidation reduction and it is fortified with powerfull bacterial strains and odor concentrate that eliminates foul odors from waste and aid in sanitary disposal" Also says that it "Contains live bacterial cultures" (good sign right?) It goes on a little more, but it sounds aerobic(sp) ? I could find no web site, but the packaging has 2 phone numbers (551-358-2981 & 717-332-4940 - funny the numbers aren't really working...lol) and the people in the booth seemed fairly straight and understood about aerobic vs anerobic and said this was compatible and enhanced the aerobic process. Have you heard of them what are your thoughts? (I search Yahoo business yellow pages also -- nothing) I'll use it this summer and report back, but it would be good to know what I'm trying out first. BTW, if you want I can list the ingredients on the back -- it might be a bit tedious, but maybe from that you might be able to get an idea whether this is a bunch of "hooey" or the real deal. I see different types of alcohols in the ingredients along with "Viable bacteria Cultures (largely water)" some fragrances and Sodium Nitrate and how funny is this "Yucca Extract"

Yup...I'm here.

I've never heard of 'em. But there are some contradictions in just the ingredients you named. Bio-active cultures (bacteria or enzymes) and alcohol are kinda incompatible...alcohol is a biocide. I'm also puzzled as to how something can CHEMICALLY "neutralize" odors AND be bio-active. As for the yucca extract, I have NO idea what its purpose is. I'm curious to know what else is in it, but so far it sounds to me like this stuff is just another perfumed odor "coverupper" with some of everything in it that might work. :) I'm also VERY curious to know what the first aid warnings say. Fwiw, there are prob'ly 100 startup wannabe's with a new "miracle" product for boats every year. I was one of 'em 20 years ago. Most are "me toos" of existing products...some are very creative concoctions that may or may not work at all (I remember a dentist who'd developed the "world's best hull compound")...about 1-1000 are actually onto something. But almost all of 'em run out of money long before they ever get it off the ground. I'm still trying to figure out how I managed to survive long enough to do it...and the face of the first person who came up to my booth at the Annapolis boat show--the 3rd year I'd been there, 5 years after launching the first national mail order campaign--and said "oh good, you're here," instead of "what is this stuff?" is permanently imprinted in my memory. Since their phone #s no longer work, somehow I don't think the makers of this product are gonna last that long--if they're even still in business now. So by all means, try it...but don't expect too much, especially after the weather gets hot.
