You've posted here before that some of the LS units for sale on ebay and other places are actually "old" stock units or otherwise out of date, etc., and therefore a bad purchase. Question: How can I tell the date/model of a particular unit? a "friend" has an unused one for sale, says it's only a couple years old. I'm going to look at it later today, but wondering is there a serial number or something I can get off the unit to verify date/model/year or something? How would I do that? TIA

The controller is the give-away as to age

The original Lectra/Sans (20+ yrs old) had a dial timer. The Lectra/San EC is the next generation, with an electronic controller. The MC (microprocessor controller) was the most recent version, replaced only within the last few months by the Electro Scan. So if your friend's Lectra/San is the MC version, it'll be less than 10 years old. It will have a serial number...you can use it to call Raritan to get the exact age. If it's never been installed, it should be ok. That's only a very rough guide...I see a lot of reasons to avoid Lectra/Sans of all "vintages" in listings for 'em on eBay. So please email the link to the listing to me before bidding on any of 'em.

Thanks Peggy..

It's not an ebay auction, but good for the record. I'll take a look and email you the specs before handing over any cash. I'll be in touch.
