Peggy, I'm getting a new boat (H320) and was wondering if waxing the bilge would help to keep it cleaner and also easier to clean. I am not worried about getting in an scrubbing it, your products do an excellent job of cleaning a dirty bilge, but I wonder if there was anything else that might be done. I am getting a dripless stuffing box and am planning on putting in a seperate small bilge and pump for the ice box drain, so I am hopeing that the worst cleaning would be to vaccum the bilge. Any hints or suggestions? Thanks. Bruce. Neon Moon

I doubt if it would make much difference

Since all bilge cleaners are also degreasers--some are ONLY degreasers, not cleaners too--and since wax IS grease (oil), any bilge cleaner will just strip the wax. A really creative idea, though...:) I think you're handling it the best way: dripless packing and sumps...and C.P will do a great job of keeping the sumps clean.

Dry Bilge

One you burp your dripless stuffing box after you launch, you won't have anything in the bilge. Just wet vac out what you start with and the bilge will be dry and won't need any cleanup. It's a great way to see if you have any water leaks. If you see water in your bilge you gotta go find the source. So far my 380's dry as a bone. :))) Bob Knott H380
