First, thanks for all of your invaluable advice. I honestly can not understand how you come up with some of your pointers. Second, I need your help. Just finished installing my new Sealand Odorless hose in my '84 H31. After reading all of your postings, I decided to spring for the $$$$. So far, I'm all pleased and tickled to get the awful hoses and smell out and new ones in. But, I now have a leak that , so far, I can't stop. Where the 1 1/2" hose fits to the back of my Jabsco head (1 year old), the discharge line seeps out whenever I flush the head. I have two clamps on it, tight as I can get 'em. What suggestions do you have? Can I use silcone or any sort of sealer? Or, wrap the fitting with teflon tape? The arm behink the joker valve never leaked before. I'm at a loss. Even had a friend come out to look at it to ensure that I wasn't crazy. I look forward to your thoughts.

Wrap the fitting with teflon tape

Please tell me that you didn't use a screwdriver (or any other tool) to pry the old hose away from the fitting? 'Cuz if you did, you dimpled the fitting...and nothing will seal it until you either replace the fitting (IF it can be replaced) or fill the dimples with epoxy and sand it smooth again. If you didn't do that, teflon tape should solve your problem. Where do I come up with some of my pointers? :) After nearly 15 years of doing this, there aren't many questions/problems I haven't heard before. A lot of experience...a fairly complete understanding of causes and effects in systems...and a little common sense will usually give me the answers to most of 'em. And...I have a fairly extensive list of people to turn to when I get stumped.

Will do. Now one more question.

To complement my new expensive head hoses, I'm planning to powerwash the bilge and all reacheable areas on my '84 H31 this weekend. I've seen postings on doing this here before, but can't find them in archives. My questions: 1. What do you suggest mixing in the spray? I assume lots of clorox, but what else do you suggest? 2. Do all areas inside the boat lead to the bilge? Specifically, under the v-berth seems to lead under the liner, i.e., between the liner and hull. I think this is the same place the shower and ice box drains lead. So, just go to it, any place I can find to spray, wash, etc.? 3. Other pointers?
