Peggie, HELP!

I have a 1984 Catalina 30 with an electric head. I’m sorry, but I could not find a manufacture name on it to tell you. The motor runs but it has stopped flushing. It also seems to allow waste water to rise in the bowl when not in use. When you press the button, you will see a whirlpool develop and what appears to be water coming in, but it will no longer go down. Having never had to work on one of these, I would appreciate any advice on where to start and what to look for. I’m not sure how old this equipment is. Thanks to all.

If liquid keeps coming back in your joker valve may need replacement. When's the last time it was changed?

I can only speculate why nothing goes down. Is it possible that something could have become stuck in the valve which is not allowing anything through but liquid is backing up?

Also, how full is your tank?

I've pumped out the holding tank so I'm sure it is pretty empty. There is a little whirlpool created and I thought it might be sucking air. Is thispossible?

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Take a picture of your head and post the picture. Try to get this post moved to the Ask All Sailors or Peggy's main thread. Someone will probably be able to identify it by the way it looks.

The Joker valve will need replacing. That could be half of your problem. You also may have a clogged line and you may need to remove your line and check it.
