The one that goes to the deck where you empty the tank at the pump out station. Can some one tell me how long it is and what size it is and any tricks on replacing it? There are several spots like the one circled in the photo where it is bulging out and has chemicals on the out side in those spots. To the touch it you can push in and if feels like a inner tube bulging from a bicycle tire. C-30 1983 Thanks

Here is What I Would Do

Chip I have an 88 model, but I will assume its all the same set up (holding tank on starboard side as well as pump out). The key is how the hose is attached to the pumpout deck fitting. If you unscrewed the deck fitting and it can be pulled up with the hose intact and clamped on you may be in luck and the job will be easy. The hose as it appaear on my vessel runs under the galley area and up into the starboard deck locker where it goes into the deck fitting. Its a rigid hose and if it were me, I would first empty the tank after several flushes and deodorizers before detaching the discharge hose. I would then find a fitting where I could attach the brand new hose to the old hose (PVC Coupling) and clamp everything together. IF you can pull the deck fitting up with the attached hose, you can slowly feed the new hose thru. If not then your going to have to clear out the cockpit storage locker, climb in and remove the hose from the fitting from the locker and feed the new hose in through their. Another big problem is the number of turns it has to take as it goes thru the galley, but I believe thats minimal. Remember, buy the same quality hose designated for sanitary purposes. Good Luck Bob

The 83' holding tank is on the port

side along with the galley but the process will be the same as you mentioned. The threading through is a good idea. Catalina Yachts said it is an 1 1/2 inch hose but they did not know how long the hose is. It looks bigger that 1 2/2 inch but it has been sitting there for about 22 years so very likely it is out of sorts. Thanks for the suggestions, Chip 1983 C-30

Hose on an 81 C-30

Don't know how long the hose run is, especially depending on how your waste system is configured. If you have the manual overboard pumpount option, the hose will run from the aft portion of the holding tank to a Y-valve that leads to a manual pump just inside the port storage locker in the cockpit. If you have a macerator, the run may go to that. If you have neither, the run will go straight to the deck fitting. The hose is indeed 1 & 1/2" (inside diameter). The Catalina systems diagram doesn't give the hose run length either. You'll have to pull it & measure (I'd replace all of the hose pieces). To keep the original path of the hose run, connect a string to the end of the hose before you pull it. Then you can pull, measure, buy replacement and rerun with the string. Good luck (yuk).
