Not much available since they've been out of business for many years. depends on what ya want, but mostly, you are going to have to improvise and/or get things made at a shop. What do you need?

Your asking for the whereabouts of the Holly Grail. Sorry no one is making parts for it and as the units age the salvage parts that become available are quite worn already. The best solution for a serious problem is to replace with an Edson but if the problem is minor then like Klouidie indicates improvise and fabricate.

I'm not sure which "under the compass" part you want but if its the plastic/acrylic housing that the lever shaft runs thru- then you are in luck.
The housing has cracked for many of our Merriman's and there is a company in greater Seattle (?Everett?) area "Joe's Racing" that has made aluminum replacements. I got one and so have several others here and on the huntertwentyeightyfive.co* site.

its was around 350-375 when Ii got mine- came with the bushings for the lever shaft. -Its a nice piece of machining. Remember to remove your throttle's shaft set screw( which reduces your lever's want to walk) in the old housing before your chuck the old housing.

While the bare Al looks pretty sharp in itself, You will prolly want to have the new aluminum housing powder-coated ($75 ish at a local shop) as the bare Al will oxidize and look tired in short order.
Search this site or the H285 site (above) for the exact name address or email me and I'll look into my records. somewhere I have jpgs too

thank you, jtmccue & maine sail, that is just what I am looking for!my local machanic said I would never find parts and that I should mount an engine control box in the side of my cockpit and do away with the ones on the pedistal.I really wanted to keep the levers where they are,the joes racing aluminum replacement sounds like just what I was looking for and at a resonable price!thanks again!!

Merriman Notes

Attached is a note from some years back.. since the Constance Machine folks are close to Everett, there may be some connection, but it is worth a call anyway. I bought my replacement about 12 years back from those guys.. The place in Canada may be worth a call as well.. Good luck .. A good machine shop can duplicate it but it will be expensive..

I had the same problem on my Legend 37 September of 2007. The PO made a repair on the shifter tab with epoxy and glass, but it didn't stand the test of time. I purchased a new cast aluminum head that was machined perfectly. I picked it up from Constance Machine in Everett, WA. Phone number is 425-347-8920. It took some time to get it because he was waiting for a few more orders to come in so he could make the minimum pour.

The control head will come polished with bushings for the throttle and shifter. It is bare, so you will need to paint. I dropped mine off at a local shop for a quick powder coat. It is solid and a perfect match.

Good luck!

There are no more parts available. HMP (Holland Marine Products) in Canada is willing to cast new shifter plates for re-sale if a customer is willing to send in an old one as a template. I would have sent mine up there but it broke mid season.

I repaired it with Devcon Plastic Welder, 1" fiberglass tape, Dremel and sand paper. It's still working fine. I painted the finished side with Krylon Fusion but left he underside raw in case it breaks again.

If you are hauling out for the winter call HMP and see if they are still interested in casting a replacement."

I could be wrong but I think Constance is a related company to Joes As I recall that name as well. Initially I had tried to reinforce the cracked fillets that the levers go thru- I used Teco hurricane fasteners( basically flange brackets- could also use deck step flanges- and epoxyed the flanges in and then basted the flange in auto body filler- worked ok for a season or so- but then had to buy.

Ask around on this & the h285 site if anyone else could be interested as they are all failing by this point in time- might make the minimum number they need to set up the jig. You could beg them to really look in they back shelf for it as that's where that last one of the run was found for a friend of mine.
