I just assumed ownership of an 80 hunter 33. The boat is in good shape but missing a few items. It does not have a pedestal guard and I can't find a brand name on the pedestal. Is it Edeson or will an Edeson brand fit the existing unit? Thanks for any info. on this item.

Most likely it is Merriman Yacht Specialties. Edson guards are on 9" centers, Y S on 12" centers. If you can get the Edson part to fit the Y S you're a better man than I!!

After bending my own 7/8" and 1" SS bows for my bimini from 20 and 24 foot tubing I am now certain that if need be you could bend or have bent a replacement tubing for your pedestal. With a bit of sand and a tubing with some measurements and a tube bender from a friend or hardware store it should not be a terribly difficult job. If I can do it, you surely can! From a 1980 H33 owner.

Thanks for the info. guys. I wasn't worried about the ss tubing as much as I was about the plate. This kind of looked like a build your on if the Edson version didn't fit. I would like to have a template if available. Thanks

The following may be able to provide you with an orignal new part, plate and rail. There are at least two sizes, dependent on what you want to do, so have some measurements ready. I'm pretty sure they still have several left. I would bargain with them. Not much of a market. You should at leaast get them cheaper than Edson. These are the only Merriman parts they have. Go to www.hollandmarine.com and look on their Budget Marine section for the top plate and they will bend the s/s tubing to fit perfectly. They also have Merriman wheel covers in that section. They have a great mail order reputation. Good luck, Fred.
