If your boat is set up like mine, then it is an Edson and you can find the information on line. I found the installation instructions on there site and it has most of the information you need to determine your exact set-up and what other items can be used.

Your boat probably had a Meriman pedestal and they're no longer in business. Edson has pedestal guards than might work but you may have to to improvise
to get the support plate on the upper portion of the guard to fit the Merriman pedestal.

Good luck

I did just that on a1983 h27 quite a few years back and was able to use an Edson support plate. If I recall correctly the support plate was available in two different sizes. I remember I disassembled the upper part of the pedestal and traced a template showing the size and the location of the holes to be able to match to the correct Edson part. The plate came with the kit which included the tube and all the hardware. Check the Edson catalog. Sorry I cannot help more than this but it has been a while and don't recall specifics. I did install the tube with the square bend on top.

I just installed a guard on my '82 H27. I have the yacht specialty pedestal and I bought an Edson guard. I had figured I would have to modify it but in the end all the holes lined up on the upper plate and it took only took a couple hours to do the entire job. It was by far the best piece I have added to the boat!

Just something to consider. You can get either a narrow or wide plate for the guard. You probably want the narrow (about 9" vs 11"). You can have a shop bend the tubing so you can attach it to the pedestal rather than drilling hole in the cockpit sole.

If you decide to mount it into the sole be sure to caulk it properly (maybe butyl). Leaks from the guard are common and cost a lot to repair.
