Pearson 26 Boom Vang

Hi, I am fairly new to sailing. I have a boom vang that attaches with two (2) clamps on the boom. It seems to slide forward and does not hold the boom down. Could you help me?? thanks in advance. Tom

maybe a photo would help

I have a P-34 with a Garhauer that I put on, so don't know from specific experience point of view. Maybe a detail photo would help us kibitzers.
