Anyone made the passage from California or Oregon to the Puget Sound area? I am curious as to the route taken and why. The winds are mainly on you nose and the 3 knot current adds a bit of a time issue. Columbia river to the straits is the route I amy be taking. Going south is a breeze, just a downwind sled kind of sail... Thanks for the input. Jim

Up hill all the way

I think you have it about right. The Current runs south all the way to Cal. Tugs and tow use to hug the coast to try to beat the current as far as Cresent City. But from there on up the current hits you on the nose. I have heard of some rich folks that truck there boats back to Seattle after the easy down hill ride. But I have not met any of these folks. You can go farther out to sea and the Current will not be so strong. Try a Pilot Chart it may help you decide how far you have to go out. Good luck and fair winds Captain Hugh Smith

You can start with me

I just found a CT 38 footer in Oklahoma (of all places) built in 1975. I got a very short letter from the good folks at Contest telling me that there was a fire in the 80s and the place went up in flames. So no info from the builder is forthcoming ever! They have moved on the biger and better things it seems, so WE are alone. I have a list of Questions about the boat and am going to be hunting down as many CT ouners as I can to build some kind of Suport Group. Good Luck and looking forward to hearing from you.
