Passage 42 Salon Bed

The data sheet on the Passage 42 indicates that the table and seats in the main salon convert into a sleeping arrangement for two adults. I've tried to figure out how this works but haven't found any documentation and have not been able to get the table to drop low enough or even go high enough to remove it from it's fitting. Anyone know how it's supposed to work? ThanksPhil

This is how we've made the port salon settee into a bunk. First we lower the table as far as it will go down. This makes it even with the settee seat. (You need to move the cushion out of the way). We then take the cushion from the starboard salon settee and put it on top of the lowered table. (You have to remove the cushion from the seat in the center salon settee). The starboard cushion is not a perfect fit, but it does nest in there adequately.We've found this arrangement to be less than comfortable for a single user. Usually what we do is just sleep on the port settee without modifying the cushion. This works all right in port, and while on a starboard tack. It is a bit more difficult while under way on a port tack.

Salon berth P42

Phil,I don't think Hunter ever intended the use ot the settee as a double berth. I called them---No good response---I ask the people at Tidewater who finally said it, Will not work. Probably why the table is so small. There is no combination of cushions that make it feel like a bed, that I have discovered.You can bet someone will now mail you saying, oh but he is wrong. I hope so.

P42 salon berth

I think jim's right. The traditional arrangement will work in a pinch although my grandkids don't mind and think it's great. On a recent crossing from Texas to the Keys that with the table lowered part way, the settee made a passible sea berth. wedged in between the seat back and the table, it was a comfortable and stable position.

Its got a prssure shock in there

Just bought her, a Passage 42, and I couldnt figure that dining table out either.You have to loosen her up, and push down hard. Its buyoed up there with a pressure shock, like the kind that holds up your auto engine lid or hatch.And we use the saloon cushion too!But why use the center island cushion?

main salon table lowering

Like the response on 7/31 stated, loosen the pressure thing and push hard on the table top to lower it. I actually sit on it if I am doing it by myself(because I am a small woman), then tighten the handle. It works better if you use one of those egg crate mattress pads on top of the cushions. The Passage 42 is a wonderful boat. WE have had ours for 5 years,, bought it new.
