Dreamtime. That would have been me I think since I did send an email.
I sent another email. I do want to know as I am taking on that project next month in preparation of splashing in July for a couple of years cruise! Maybe you could post here for others who will have the same question on what works and how.

Just throwing this out there for consideration - rather than going through the trouble of converting to propane, have you thought about just replacing your existing stove with one that burns diesel? Wallas makes several:

The advantages are that you don't have to carry a second fuel (propane) onboard, and apparantly the stove can also be used as a cabin heater with the addition of a blower assembly Wallas sells. The disadvantage is that they aren't cheap. But it's a boat afterall.

Two steps: you need to make a locker that drains overboard (the West Marine Advisor online and in the catalogs has a very good description of the requirements), or go external rail mount - many use starboard for "holders", and you need to change your burners, perhaps the oven, too - I forget. Call Dennis at Seaward in California and he knows exactly what to do - be prepared with the serial number of your stove from inside the opening top cover.

Any P42 owners that have done the conversion - could you please post pictures as well as how you did it? CNG just became a lot harder to get in the Vancouver areas with the main marine supplier closing its doors.

I will post pics when I complete the conversion next month. Currently debating between the starboard locker or a deck mounted locker by the stern raill...

No you are correct, CNG is available at filling stations - its the bottle exchange program that is impossible to find. I guess I should look at making the adapter. Not sure if the local filling stations allow filling of portable tanks - have to check.

We quit exchanging bottles a couple of years ago. We now spend about $2 to fill each bottle. We were paying between $25-30 for a fill. We normally fill the 4 bottles once each year and save about $100/yr.
