I have a 1977 Cherubini Hunter 30 and it has a bad bend in the bow pulpit and needs to be replaced. I live in N.J. Does anyone know where to buy parts for for this type boat? Or is there a welder that can make a pulpit?

Same problem other end

I also have a '77 Hunter 30' and am in need of a new stern pulpit. Any ideas. Maybe someone knows of an old scrapped Hunter 30' that has these in good shape?

Sorry - not trying to hijack your thread but I thought it might get more of a reply.

I have a 30 like yours lost my boarding ladder very publicly 3 years ago. I was standing on it when it let go. I had a local welder fabricate a new one for me. It was in the less expensive than finding one getting it off and either shipping or transporting it back to Baltimore based on where I found them and I had the luxury of having beefed up and better braced.

If you are interested I can provide John's contact info but more than likely someone in your areas can do this as well. Given the size of these units finding them locally makes sense as shipping can add up even if you can find used cheap.

I believe west marine and other marine suppliers have the chrome pipe and fittings used to make pulpits. You can probably take the straight pipe they sell to a muffler shop to put the right bends in it. The fittings are probably secured with Allen set screws. I would be cautious to not try to bend it without a fixture for fear of kinking it. A muffler shop has the hydraulic benders and fixtures. Check with one before buying the parts though.

I have a stern pulpit that is cobbled together with pieces of SS pipe and allen key fittings. There is too much wobble and play in the fittings for it to be stable enough to keep the lifelines tensioned. For the pulpit to have any strength and rigidity the whole unit needs to be welded. After it is welded the SS and welds need to be passivated to eliminate rusting.
So having one welded up from scratch or finding a good used one is the way to go.

When I bought my boat, the pulpit was badly bent as well but a had it fixed.
I supplied the right size 316 stainless steel tubing to a good welder and he fixed it. I could have paid more money to get it polished but at least it's very solid.

I, personally, don't trust those bimini fittings for my railing and pulpit. I've had those coming loose on me and I can't risk taking a plunge at the wrong time.

Thanks guy's but I found a bow pulpit from another club member. Tall Oaks Yacht club had a get together and after talking to some members one of them had a similar one that will look great in perfect condition.

I have a 2 blade prop on my Yanmar 12 horse diesel and was wondering if you can get more speed with a 3 blade prop.

From the next creek north :), I highly recommend the 3 bladed prop. I have a Yanmar 2GM (13 HP) on my H33C and have no problem maintaing 5 knots into a stiff breeze.

Rich,
I also have a 33c w 2gm motor. What size & pitch is your prop? Do you also have improved performance while in reverse?
Thanks,
Vaughan
