I posted this previously on the Hunter forum but should have asked the trailer sailors: I am planning a cruise on the Pamlico and Neuse Rivers and am looking for launching ramp info. Need a ramp with adjoining courtesy dock, depths 5 ft. Approach channel depths 6 ft. Parking for truck and trailer. Launching a Hunter 260. Steve

Launch Ramp

Steve, You may want to contact Deaton Yacht Sales in Oriental, NC. 800-401-1195. They are a wealth of info. I know there is a ramp at the bridge in Oriental with a large Parking lot. Regards, Richard s/v La Vida Feliz

Orental Wildlife Launch Ramp

Steve As Richard said there is a lunch ramp next to the bridge at the end of NC55 in Oriental. It has a floating dock on each side, and a new marina just on the other side of the bridge. It is about 200 yds to the Neuse river. I know the depth on the river side of the bridge is 6 feet plus. I will have to ask about the ramp side. A lot of trailer sailors launch of the ramp. The bridge clearance is 45ft. Good Winds, Dave s/v DAMWEGAS

another place to ask

Two other spots will give you more answers NCSail.org And Trailersailor.com I'd also be more specific about the which town you want to use as launching points. There are good ramps all over if you can learn to launch without a courtesy dock. I launch my 23.5 without a dock sometimes and it is pain but doable. one person stays in the boat and starts the motor and turns it around to back it up to shore to pick up the car driver after she parks the trailer. If you are launching single handed you can spin the boat around and pull it back to shore with really lond lines but you'd only want to do this alond a sandy or grassy shoreline. I'd like to launch around New Bern or Washington some time. I know there is a ramp at McCotter Marina in Washington. It has a dock but it also has a back drop off from power launchers so you must keep the boat properly centered on the ramp.
