I need to paint the swing keel-I have the supplies to do the job however the boat is on the trailer and I have no boat stands or any other means of lifting it up. Any thoughts?
Many of us go underneath and paint the keel while it is on the trailer. You should be able to lower the keel onto the cross memebr of the trailer to gain maximum exposure.A few improvised painting tools will help you get up in the tight space between the keel and the keel trunk.Enjoy.
Mike: You will probably need to jack the boat up on the trailer with a hydraulic jack then block it on the trailer bunks in order to let the keel down far enough so it can be painted. Along the center line close to the transom, and on the stem in front of the keel seem to be the strong parts, but be careful on the stem and be under a bulkhead there otherwise it may be "soft". Dick
