Painting the Hull

It may be time at last to paint the hull of my 1970 Vega. Hull has no
blisters but looks worn, with gelcoat about gone in some areas/with
sine dock marks/repairs showing. Deck/topside was painted last
year...which makes hull look worse.

I am the oldest vega with an unpainted hull? For those who have
painted their hull using a two part exoxy, what is the life expectancy
of your painted hull (10 years or more?)? And, would you advise
Alwgrip, Interlux, or another product...or does it really matter as
long as it's a two-part epoxy paint? I'm considering having it
professionally done this Fall, so your response would be helpful!

Thanks,

Hi Ron

Painted my Vega 12 years ago and still looks good. I would suggest 2-part epoxy.

I repainted mine the original blue and she looked brand new, only problem was the following season I was scared to sail anywhere in case I scratched the hull. After a few dents and scrapes you forget that and just go sailing....

Cheers
