Getting ready to take ownership of a 1984 Hunter 31 that I would like to put a fresh coat of deck paint. I plan to begin with a good pressure washing followed by???

What additional prep needs to be done? Any suggestions on paint selection? How many coats? Once the paint is applied, is there a cure time before walking on? Etc.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Are you meaning the entire deck, both gelcoat and the non-skid? What exactly?

I would suggest that you rethink painting the decks if you are referring to the non-skid. The current finish has lasted for 25 years. If you plan on really using the boat, paint is going to need to be redone every couple of years.

I suggest that you consider either gel coat or something like Kiwi finish.

Steve, I am rethinking the whole painting the deck idea. It seems that a PO painted the deck at some point and it is peeled/flacked mostly off. After reading up on this, several folks have made similar remarks which have deterred me at this point.

Thanks for yor comments.
