painting the ceiling carpet

Hi, I would like to make the interior of my boat lighter and more attractive, so I am wondering if I can paint the wool ceiling and sidewall carpet?
Has anyone done this successfully?

I've seen it done to another 11.0a. IMHO it did not turn out well. Paint flecks also kept shedding...

I spray painted mine on my 7.3. Shaved the loose off first. Then used a good spray paint. Looks good and saved a lot of work of not replacing it.
