painting sails

Has any one painted a scene or picture on thier sails. My wife is an artist and would like to paint a nautical scene on the main for me. My sails are made by Doylethanks, Wally captain of J.A.W.S.

Wally, I have seen sails that have ben painted. You can try silk screen inks or something similar. Remember though that the sail is constantly moving, luffing, stretching etc. so I think that over time it is inevitable that some of the paint will crack or chip off to a certain extent. If you are determined to do it get a piece of similar sailcloth and to some testing with different inks/paints.Thanks,Bill ColomboDoyle Sailmakers
