I am thinking of painting the cabin deck and the area directly under the seats in the galley. Can this be done be sanding lightly and just painting the fiberglass.?

Yes Mick, I scrubbed mine with a wire brush. Wiped it down with acetone. Sanded a little, vacuumed it, wiped it again and painted it with a one part epoxy paint lowes caries called porch paint. That is what I used on my bulkheads. Also usedd it on my homemade plywood countertops. It has been hard as a rock. Good stuff.Mick143 said:

I did the same thing, but used poly based hi-gloss deck paint. So far so good except for a few small scratches from storing the boom and other equipment belowdeck. Make sure you use a good fan to keep the fresh air moving into the cabin (and a respirator while you're sanding) the fumes are pretty bad for you.
