painting deck non-skid on Passage 420?

I recently had my Passage 420 polished and it was suggested that the non-skid portion of the deck (which is light grey in color, in contrast with the white gelcoat next to it) was "thin", and needed painting.

Anyone who has had this done? Your suggestions and recommendations appreciated.

Well, if it were me I would never paint it. This makes cleaning it much more difficult because you cannot use certain cleaning products on it.

The non-skid is a gel coat that can be redone or you can use a product like Kiwi Grip.
