I have an 82' H33 and the blue/Ltblue topside stipping is showing it's age. I plan on repainting the stripping in the spring but I'm not sure how I can remove the old paint without damaging the gelcoat. Do I even have to remove it? Any thoughts??

Are you sure that it is paint?

Dave: Are you sure that these are paint. I thought that the boats all came with vinyl stripping!

Decal from an auto accessory store

The stripe on my 1980 h33 was a decal, and I am sure all the others were originally done this way. I removed it,(not that easy, but doable) and bought new stripes from an auto supply store. I think that West Marine carries them, too. Eventually, when I Awlgripped the hull, I did paint a single new stripe, and a double bootstripe, and used a decal for the name. All of the above solutions worked just fine.

I painted over mine

I used Rustoleum on my waterline stripe. Tape it off and the best looking finish will be if you use one of those mini-rollers.
