Paint protection film

Just finished rolling Alexseal 501 poly 2 part paint. After full cure, I'm considering installing a paint protection film on a spot where I get a lot of fender chafe. I have boat blanket on the fender but it gets a lot of hard push against the hull. I don't care too much about seeing the chafe on the ppf and will replace the ppf after 3 to 5 years depending on how fast it chafes. Big concern is removing the film and not damaging the paint.
Anyone have experience adding paint protection film over a 2 part paint?

I have no experience and am looking to use Alexseal on my boat. I would send a query to Andy at Boatworkstoday.com. He is now an Alexseal distributor and has been to their HQ. He should be able to give you some answers.

I considered having a vinyl wrap applied to my boat. The 3m certified installer suggested applying a paint protection film (PPF) on areas that are susceptible to chafe. As long as you do a good job prepping before painting, using a PPF should work fine to protect your paint job. If the prep was not done properly you will have a problem when it comes time to remove it. The PPF could lift the paint from the substrate. Let us know how it turns out. Ultimately I decided to use Alexseal 501 as it is user friendly and is repairable.

Was this on paint or gelcoat?
