I'm wondering if not having any water drops out of thefreshly (one season) packed shaft nut is a problem,In fact it ran cool all season, no resistence either.Should I loosen it up and deal with water dripping?Any thoughts?
When the shaft is turning, you should get a few drips a minute with the standard packing. The dripping should stop with the shaft at rest. Loosen/tighten the packing nut until you reach this balance.Wehave dripless packing in our gland. A teflon based paste and compatible packing mean that the packing is dripless running or not.DavidLady Lillie
