PacificNorthwest Rendezvous

All Nor'Westers,

Is there any sort of agenda for the rendezvous, or is it just a happening? I
didn't think I would have the time free, but was able to trade with another
instructor to do my scheduled navigation teaching (I now have to fly to
Savannah, GA to run an on-the-water training program and then to Portland,
OR to do a navigation instructor certification -- instead of the classes I
was going to teach on Radar and Boat Handling). Anyway, I have the time
free. But my boat is kind of torn apart right now as I am putting in a new
fuel tank and some wiring.

Anyway, I'd drive up and stay at one of the places on Pender (if available).
While I always enjoy hanging with fellow boaters, because of the expense
(and not having my boat), I would like to know what the plans for the two
day are.

Chris,
Others will no doubt chime in here, but the Vega Rendezvous is "planned" in
that it occurs on two agreed upon days every summer. There's usually a potluck one night, where we share food and drink and gather on
the dock to renew acquaintances and old friendships, get to know new folks and
swap boat stories and ideas. At some point there are boat tours--but this is
informal and scattered through the weekend. You should know that at least three
of us continue to attend the rendezvous even though we no longer own Vegas--even
though we found we could part with our boats, we couldn't part with the group.

There are often spontaneous events like dinghy races, and this year, it sounds
like Brian has us scheduled into a wine tasting and dinner on Saturday night.
The Vega group is a wonderful community of people, Port Browning is a great
venue, and we always have a fantastic time. If you are hoping for a syllabus
with a strictly timed schedule of events, classes, workshops etc., well, that
ain't us. Hope to see you there,
Sheila

PS Viking wear is encouraged, but not required.________________________________

Hell..I can't even pronounce "syllabus"...Is that like an agenda? This is a VEGAtarinan Rendezvous...we do not do best dressed (except for Jim and Gloria), most experienced (except for Chuck and Laura), most loved (except for Mitzi and Bear)etc, etc, no games, all winners and no losers, no blue team no red team and always trying to "catch" each other doing right... If you can make it...bring camping gear, because there is a large camping area and even Vega owners like their privacy. You will have to take a ferry from Twassassan to the Gulf Islands...if by car then reserve, if by bike you will be ok...

Regards,
Brian
