Can anyone confirm that Pacific Seacraft has gone belly up? A friend of mine who lives in NC said it did and that a friend of his got it for $85,000. He got all the molds but one which was sold off, plus the rights to the name and all dealer agreements and he got all the boats in process. He had 6 weeks to get all this off the former Pacific Seacraft properties and is in production in a rented facility here in Washington, NC. Yikes....

Correct ..... PSC was dissolved in Bankruptcy court

apparently their marketing did not follow the rest of the boating industry which has apparently shifted to 'weekenders" , charterers and 'dockside entertainment centers' with large internal volumes, chintz, .... to appeal to the non-sailor / wannabe. If you ever go to a boat show just watch the crowds - hardly ever look at the sailing gear, the underbody, the go-fasts, etc. ..... just how well the interior is laid out and how big the engine is, does it have a roller furling mainsail and the location of the cockpit icebox & 'drink holders'.

Great Blue Water Boat

Your dead on what you said but are not for the average boat buyer. I know someone that has a 37 PSC and it is a beautiful sailboat but not very easy to sail singlehanded. I think we all know what a great boat it is but too much $$$$$$ boat for some coastal cruisers like me. The guy I know who has this PSC doesn't get to sail it that much, what shame how many would give their first born for it. Nick

Good point Rich

I have made that observation many times when at boat shows. The Toronto boat show is held indoors so the boats don't have anything above the decks, no masts, booms, furling etc. It doesn't seem to concern anyone....nobody walks the decks, they all head right for the cabin.

California is running them all out!

California is having sever problems with maintaining current manufacturing companies. They have a proposal to "trade" carbon credits (charge large sums of money) for anyone operating a business in California. Pacific Sea Craft and Santa Cruz Yachts (formerly of San Cruz, CA) are now being mfg. on the other coast! Next move will probably be offshore. Considering the value of the dollar against other foreign currencies, this may put many new boats out of range for for the "average" Joe!

PSC doesn't get to sail it that much

Why not? You said it's hard to sail singlehanded. Why? Just curious. Catalina has moved to Florida, may still be doing some stuff here, don't know the details, their changes just keep dribbling out. California (and I live here) is shooting itself in the foot as far as businesses are concerned. A healthy environment makes sense, having eco-Nazis in charge of business decisions and tax incomes is ridiculous.

We have a dock mate

who never comes down to his gorgeous Island Packet 320. Unfortunately, never does he clean it either.

Too Big Too Much Work

I have heard the words too much work or too big for me to sail by my self. When people say isn't it a lot of work on a sailboat,my answer is no not really. That's why I have a Hunter 36 with In- Mast and I tell people that the Hunter sailplan makes it so easy to enjoy sailing,I get to sail my Hunter more than most other dock mates. Its amazing how all these great sailboats just sit at the dock and we hardly see the owners. Their life some times change and they can't seem to get crew to help sail that big beautiful boat. I completely understand when some one will say how much they really like their small older boat which they sail a lot more than most newer bigger owners. Nick
