If I have it right, you weighed anchor about 0630 near mile 524 and cleared the point at Charleston, mile 469, at 1500. That looks like you made about 7.5kts today. Is that normal from your exerience otherwise? Seems a pretty good clip, even with a nice southerly wind.....

According to the GPS, 46.6 nm in 8:39:31 for an average speed of 5.37 knots.

Remember, they use statute miles on the ICW.

This is very close to the overall moving average for 2012, according to the GPS trip odometer function reset at New Years, of 5.4 knots. Cruising in New England where I sail more, my moving average was almost exactly 5.0 knots three years running.

That makes more sense, but I used statute miles from the Kettlewell chart book which gave me the 55 miles - time being essentially the same. Still not a bad pace. Did you get sails up at all?
