On the first anchor retrieval the windlass motor seized with 120 ft. of 5/8" chain and a 45lb CQR anchor deployed. The anchor and rode were retrieved by hand and fortunately the conditions were not rough. The windlass was replaced and since has worked without problem. Has anyone else had a windlass problem on a 420? Is it possible Hunter has used to light of windlass on the 420?

Windless out of wind

I have the same anchor and rode set-up you described. The main probelm I have had is with the windless circiut breaker triping too easily, and the anchor roller being too small. I have to lift the anchor out of the track until the swivel clears and then lower if down using the winch. I am looking at widening the roller to allow it move forward freely (I don't want to be hanging over the bowsprit in rough seas trying to lift and clear the anchor. It may very well be that the windless is too light for the size of boat/anchor. I'll be interested in other responses. Best regards,
