P30 - Adding a hatch to the main salon

Hello -After last year replacing my old Atomic 4 with a freshwater cooled Moyer Marine Atomic 4 I am ready to change the subject. Has anyone added an opening hatch to the main salon of their Pearson 30? Even with fans and a windscoop the ventilation is atrocious. Seems like adding a hatch could make the main salon a much nicer place to spend time. Please let me know and I will report back on my 'new' Atomic 4 as soon as we get in the water.Thanks! Chris

Can you fit

a large enough hatch in the alloted area to be practical? I've considered it for my P30 also, but keep coming back to the question of practicality - and, will it weaken the deck too much. What I have done, though, is replace the 1 opening and 3 fixed ports in the head and Vberth with opening ports w/rain hoods....big difference. I've also made an awning large enough to be left up in the rain for the forward hatch. Dockside, we use a couple of small clip on fans where needed.A 'round2it' project is to replace the large salon window glass with lexan with opening ports.

Hi -Actually I believe I have seen a P30 with the additional hatch - maybe I will see it around again this summer. From what I recall the hatch was maybe half the size of a regular hatch. If you don't mind me asking, what brand of opening ports did you put in and was that a big effort?Thanks! Chris
