Anybody know, IF i blocked up my Peason 28 in order to take off & restore rudder bearings etc, HOW HIGH UP WOULD THE BOAT HAVE TO BE BLOCKED??? tx

Most folks will do a "normal" blocking with support for the keel and dig a hole for the spade rudder to be lowered into. I wouldn't want my boat blocked that high because of concerns about stability.

Maybe get things ready in the water and drop the rudder with the boat in the Travelift slings. Another two or three feet then shouldn't make too much difference.

Just do not undo everything so that the rudder drops out on it’s own and goes for a swim.

My marina has an asphalt lot, so no digging a pit.

I saw a guy get everything loose and ready to go while blocked on the hard…then he had the travel lift raise his boat and leave it in the slings overnight (and worked to drop it). The marina put him back on the blocks the next morning.

Reversed the process when it was time to reinstall the rudder.

I had to take the rudder off my Catalina 309. By the way Catalina, thanks for not getting the rudder tube straight when you built the boat and cobbling up the bearings so that the whole system would fail and then refusing to fix it....okay, got that off my chest.

But anyway, I dug a hole. Dirt lot and extremely hard-packed. When I went to the marina office and asked if it was okay to dig a hole, they handed me a pick. Never used one of those before, but I see now why those old prospectors always had one strapped to the side of their donkeys.
