HOW Editorial

Only 22% of responding Hunter owners will decorate the exterior of their boat with holiday lights, according to last week's Quick Quiz. Is the distance to your boat a problem, or are you simply to busy to bother? If you are stringing lights, on what part of the boat, and how do you secure them for safety? Illuminate this holiday project here.

very traditional

No Bah Humbug out here in southern California! Our H410 has garland along her safety lines with small clear lights. We have her backed into the dock now so the garland/lights run up and over the arch. Three red bows are attached to the stanchions on each side, and one large bow is on the pulpit. Lastly, there is a small lighted wreath attached to each stern seat rail. All seven liveaboard boats and several of the day tenant boats on the dock have been nicely decorated for the holidays, and the dock lights have been covered in green and red cellophane and have big red bows with silver garland ties. The dock gate is brightly done in icicles, garland, string lights and a wreath. Tie wraps are preferred for attaching decorations - we've had several very strong winds over the last week and everything is 'anchored' pretty solidly. The annual King Harbor boat parade is at 5:30pm this Saturday and our dock party begins at 3:00pm. Anyone in the King Harbor area is welcome to stop by M dock and partake of the festivities. /c s/v Twilight

Too Cold!

My boat is up in hibernation, on the hard and shrink wrapped for the winter. No decorating here :)

Pictures Carol?

For those of us who won't see a boat for four more months how about some photos? I've never seen a marina decorated for Christmas.

No darkness here

White lights running up the forestay and backstay in Norwalk, CT. Not only pretty, but helps light up the way when I get home in the evening! Happy holidays to all. John Reid aboard S/V On Air

Lights at anchor - comments?

We will be cruising south Florida & the Keys thru the Xmas season (just completed a St. Aug. to W. Palm passage last weekend ~ 40 hrs). The admiral and first officer are requesting that we string some lights. My concern is that we will be anchoring out most of the time and I am unsure of the legality of displaying multi-colored lights either while cruising or at anchor. Am I just being too stuffy or is this a valid concern? Please help to return some peace and good will in this holiday season. Thanks, Scott 83-H34 Island Hops. PS. Any info on Y2K parties in Sth. FL. would be welcome. Anyone up for a get together near MIA / Upper Keys ?

Ho Ho Ho

The Foto Forum has a few pics from our dock in King Harbor Marina, Redondo Beach, CA, taken just as the sun was setting (by the world's worst photographer). It's been a year of change and we've been blessed with a lot of new and exciting things - a new H410, many new friends, new neighbors, new sailing experiences - and are grateful for our old friends, good health and happiness. We're looking forward to meeting lots of you and sailing with you in 2000! May you all have a happy and safe holiday, and here's hoping your dreams come true in the New Year. Thanks Carol!

Those are great pics. Is there a waiting list in your marina in case I win the lottery this week?

Xmas Fun

Hi All, We decorate our 430, Chimaera, and every hunter we have owned , which is 5, every year. We participate in the lighted boat parade most years when it is not overly cold and windy but in Seattle that isn't every year. This year we had our grandsons on board and it was a funtime even thoght we had 20 kts of wind on the nose.. Merry Christmas to all Dave Jones Chimaera Brownsville , Wa
